The Development of Soft Plastic Packing

Plastic bag products have been diversified in recent years, from daily products, like trash bags, shopping bags, food wrap, and reseal-able bags, to medical use products, such as disposable gloves and sleeves etc. The production has also been more systematic, and our technology has been modeled on Japan, the U.S., and Europe to customize the need of the merchandise packing for our customers.

The market standard on quality has continually been heightened. To meet the standard of packing in different industries and the safety standard of different countries, we have to understand of the importance of Lamination Packaging Bags. This technology can meet the needs of printing and designs, and it can place all inks and Chemical Coatings between the thin layers to avoid the physical contact between users and merchandises and the chemical materials.

There are three types of Lamination Technology:
  • Adhesive Lamination
  • Hot Melt Coatings
  • Co-Extrusion Lamination


    1. Adhesive Lamination

    For the time being, almost all single layer films are capable to be processed in Adhesive Lamination technique. Single layer films combined the characteristics of each separate layer: damp-proof, resistibility¡Bheat resistant and heat keeping are some of the properties to meet the packaging requirements from a diverse customers of us.

    When crafting the single layer films, adhesive is the one of the important key to quality the laminating films. In the manufacturing process of Adhesive Lamination, soluble adhesive are being applied most of the time. Some of the examples are polyurethane, polyester¡Bepoxy resin¡BPolyvinyl Acetate, Isocyanate, mastic gum, polymer sealant and natural rubber. Polyurethane adhesive bring along a combination of good resilience, temperature resistance, aging resistance, flexibility and strength. In a wide temperature and humidity fluctuation range, it still survive from prolonged use without being delaminated, and well perform the area such as heat & chemical medium tolerance, boil, High Temperature Sterilize or acting as a Heat-Sealant. Polyurethane adhesive show a High adhesivity against various materials, it is the major element of lamination manufacturing.

    At the beginning, adhesive Lamination is applied for the manufacturing of Barrier packaging, which is a combination of high barrier material and inexpensive packaging compound. Such craft can take the traditional barrier material such as Aluminium Foil, Aluminized Coated Films¡Band other mid high barrier film such as PVDC film, PA film, EVOH film.

    For packing with general merchandises products, the construction usually to use BOPP as the outer layer, which is very good performance for high quality printing, medium layer for resistance can be PA¡BPVDC¡BEVOH or Aluminium Foil, inner sealant can be CPP. If heat resistance is not needed, LDPE can be applied.


    2. Hot Melt Coatings

    Comparing to Adhesive Lamination, Hot Melt Coatings is a latter invention. It minimizes the prime cost of raw materials and increases its variation. Hot Melt Coatings takes environmental factors into account and use Non-Toxic Adhesive It has a good anti-permeability performance, which advance as the amount of layers increase. In the present, technology allows us to manufacture more than 10 layers for each coating.

    Hot Melt Coatings require the use of two or more extrusion machines to melt different types of resin and extrude, then flow across separate ducts for the convergence inside or outside of the mould. Blowing and bloating then cool down to be clung together. Thickness of each individual layer is governed by the rotational speed of the extrusion machines. Since extrusion machines do not yield for precise action, which ultimately affect the layer thickness precision of the coating. The combination of skilled labor and more advance machinery is needed to overcome. Since its compatibility with barrier material and heat keeping materials are generally low, therefore its popularity is not comparable with Adhesive Lamination.


    3. Co-Extrusion Lamination

    Co-extrusion technology is far more advanced than single die extrusion coating. It's faster, more efficient and produces a technical superior product designed for the changing priorities of the laminator.

High barrier material is the main substance in the manufacturing of Co-Extrusion Lamination, in combination with the other compound material and adhesive resin to extrude at a time. The pre-laminating materials can be categorized into three main types, which is high resistance substance, laminating substance copolymer. High barrier material governs the separate ability of the Co-Extrusion Lamination product being produced. At the moment, PA, EVOH and PVDC are the three major material of Co-Extrusion Lamination because of their nature as a polarized material. These polarized material have a high moisture-absorbing ability, where the material's moist can alter the quality of the final product. When being heated during the process water molecules will be decomposed, air bubbles will appear and lead to delaminating of high barrier substance, which seriously affect the quality of the product. Therefore to acquire a satisfactory result, water content cannot exceed 0.06%
